Getting your photos taken can be nerve-wracking at times. But as a professional photographer, I’m here to help you out. Preparing yourself for the day of photos will save a lot of stress, and really allow you to enjoy your photoshoot.
How To Prepare For A Photoshoot
1: Finding The One (outfit): First of all, find something that makes YOU feel COMFORTABLE. Don’t buy or wear something just because it’s “cute”. Listen I’m the first one to admit I’m not the biggest fan of my arms. So when looking for an outfit I make sure it covers my arms. Find something that just makes you feel like a million bucks because trust me I could tell when someone is uncomfortable. How you’re feeling will come across your photos, and at the end of the day, it’s supposed to be a fun experience. Take your time finding your outfit, ask your photographer for help, or hire someone (like myself) who keeps a client closet.
PS: Lastly, I recommend you bring a change of outfit. Spice it up, and have fun! Have your photos taken on the beach? Bring some swimwear. Swimmaware makes for such a fun time, and photos. Mix it up and do an elegent|editorial outfit, and then change into a more casual one. Giving your photos variety will be fun.
2- Forget About The Size: Clothing sizes range depending on the store, material, and fit. Honestly, you may be a size S in one brand and size L in another. That is totally NORMAL, and you will never be the same size across the board in ALL brands. Letting go of the size on the tag, and instead focusing on how it makes you feel will boost your morale.
3- Pamper + Hire Professional Help: The number one tip I give is to hire a professional to pamper you. You’re investing in beautiful photos, and it allows you to pamper instead of stress. Make sure to hire someone to do your make-up and hair. Imagine how amazing your photos will come out now that you’ve invested in the whole photoshoot? I know my basics in makeup, but your girl for sure struggles with a full face 😂. You’re paying for these beautiful images so why not go all out?
How To Be Stress-Free For Your Photoshoot
1: Nails: Yes, nails! This goes for your significant other as well. For instance, if you don’t enjoy getting your nails done at least clip, and clean them. Throw some clear polish or a solid color. Trust me you’ll notice these little details and the last thing you want to see is dirty nails.
2: Makeup: Even if you’re not into makeup I highly suggest a natural look, or glam (whatever makes YOU comfortable). Even if you already know how to do your make-up I suggest pampering yourself. Think about it.. your responsibility for the day will be just to get dressed and show up.
3: Time: Make sure to give yourself plenty of time. Think about things like traffic, and giving some room for hip cups. Sunset nor sunrise wait. So make sure you give yourself enough time to even arrive early. Arriving early will allow you to take a breather before having your photos taken.
