7 Chicago Wedding Venues to Consider for a Luxury Wedding
The Ritz-Carlton Chicago
If you’re drawn to polished interiors, skyline views, and celebratory energy, the Ritz-Carlton Chicago is a venue for you to consider. It holds the kind of wedding weekend that lets you feel completely present and taken care of, with packages that are tailored to your vision and day-of logistics that are handled for you by the staff. That means that your weekend gets to look more like having a good time with your people than stressing about the small details.
You can have up to 850 guests here depending on the location, and since it’s a hotel, guests can stay on-site, which means connection expands beyond the wedding itself.
Elegant weddings fit really well here, with ballrooms to choose from that each have a modern look and refined details. Receptions can be filled with live music, champagne toasts, and candlelight glow, and it works beautifully against the backdrop of the Chicago skyline.
Wedding portraits and documentary-style photos alike have that distinct Chicago feeling at the Ritz-Carlton, which is why it’s one of my favorite places to document weddings.
Chicago Botanic Garden
For a Chicago wedding venue with a softer backdrop (that still feels connected to the city), Chicago Botanic Garden is a great option. It’s incredible for couples who are drawn to outdoor celebrations with garden landscapes that still feel luxurious.
This Chicago wedding venue has so many options for spaces for your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and I love seeing how the movement flows between them. You can have up to 350 guests here in some spaces, and I love to see how people use it to have their loved ones gather. It’s one of those intentional, meaningful details that always gets to me.
From a photography perspective, I love how vibrant the gardens feel as a backdrop for the moments happening all around you – cocktail hours with guests mingling under trees, first looks in front of blooming flowers that are full of emotion, parent dances underneath greenery-lined ceilings.

The Peninsula Chicago
The Peninsula Chicago is a luxury downtown hotel that’s characterized by sophisticated spaces surrounded by Chicago city views, and it’s as beautiful as it sounds. This is a space where you get elegant interiors as well as comprehensive services that let you actually settle in and enjoy your day.
Holding up to 550 guests in some spaces with on-site accommodations available, the Peninsula is another spot that’s great for an elevated celebration that lasts the whole weekend.
Weddings here can be grand and formal or modern and editorial, and no matter what style you choose here, I love to see how the connection fills the space. It’s one of those places that lets me capture gorgeous, refined portraits when it comes to guiding you through photos, as well as candid shots of your people laughing, hugging, and crying so that galleries feel layered and completely honest.
Chicago Cultural Center
The Chicago Cultural Center has a distinctive visual identity that sets it apart from the other Chicago wedding venues on this list – think ornate architecture, dramatic interiors, and soft lighting through stained-glass windows.
If you’re drawn to the history of Chicago and want to feel connected to that on your wedding day, this is a space to consider. It was built in downtown Chicago in 1897 and is filled with art and historical details from Chicago’s past.
This is an expansive venue with high ceilings and intricate details that create space for you to stay connected to the people and moments around you. You can invite up to 330 guests, and spend your day connecting with them in a venue where you’re all surrounded by beauty and history while being taken care of throughout.
Editorial photography works really well in a Chicago wedding venue like this, but I especially love to document you interacting with your people, moving between spaces, and actually enjoying your day.
The Langham, Chicago
For a more sleek, modern feel, I can’t recommend The Langham enough. It’s a hotel that’s located in a spot that gives you panoramic views of the city skyline plus the river, and that’s something that automatically makes the space feel elevated.
There are three wedding venues in the hotel, with a maximum capacity of 250 guests. Since it is a hotel, your guests can stay on-site – meaning that you can layer the entire weekend with events and celebrations.
I love photos here for the clean architecture and contemporary design that makes portraits feel polished, but I especially love the way that my couples feel at ease here. There’s a sense of luxury built into the packages that lets my couples and their guests feel taken care of, which means you get to stay fully present in your day. And as someone who pays close attention to the reactions, connections, and passing moments that reveal what the day felt like for the couple and the people closest to them, that’s a huge plus for a venue.

University Club of Chicago
If you’re dreaming of a day that feels more intimate, moody, or deeply connected to Chicago, you may love the University Club of Chicago. This is a Chicago wedding venue that offers Gothic architecture in some spaces and traditional interiors in others, meaning that it has versatility to fit your day. It’s available for University Club members only, so note that when looking over this venue.
Some spaces hold as few as 22 people, and others hold weddings as large as 450 guests, so whether you’re picturing something intimate or something larger, there’s a space for your day that will hold it well.
I love that there are rich architectural details throughout the University Club – hand-painted ceilings, mahogany, floor-to-ceiling windows, and even walls lined with library shelves. It not only makes your wedding feel polished no matter where you choose to hold your events, but it also serves as a gorgeous setting for photography throughout the day.
As your Chicago wedding photographer, it’s important to me that your venue feels like you, and The University Club brings the kind of flexibility that can host many different types of couples.
Chicago Athletic Association
The Chicago Athletic Association will always be on my list of favorite Chicago wedding venues purely because of how many different energies it can hold. You can go understated and intimate, classic and traditional, or even completely eclectic and unique, and there’s a space to fit it.
This is another venue on the list that has on-site accommodations, meaning that your guests (up to 280) get to celebrate with you throughout the weekend. They create packages with thoughtful details specifically designed for your wedding, so there are never moments of wondering what to do. With behind-the-scenes hospitality handling the logistics, you get to be in the moment, not managing it.
The layered interiors in the Chicago Athletic Association mean a versatile gallery: portraits with the Chicago skyline behind you, candids of you hugging your favorite people, emotional moments that you don’t even know are happening all around you. And that’s the kind of presence I love.
