Intimate weddings in Hawaii are some of the most special wedding days I capture. Fewer guests can create more room for connection, so that you get to actually spend time with everyone you intentionally invited, finish conversations, and notice what’s happening around you. And as a Hawaii wedding photographer who documents days with thoughtful observation, I see how the atmosphere influences how my couples feel on their wedding day. If you’re planning an intimate wedding on Oahu and you want to stay present and connected with your people all day long, these are a few intimate wedding venues on Oahu that hold that kind of wedding well.

9 Oahu Wedding Venues for Intimate Weddings
Male’ana Gardens
Male’ana Gardens is an intimate wedding venue located in Kailua, Hawaii. It’s specifically for elopements, intimate weddings, and micro weddings, and they only host one wedding per week, so that it feels like a thoughtful experience for you and your guests.
Intimate wedding ceremonies at Male’ana Gardens are held on the lawn where you’re surrounded by lush palm trees and an ocean breeze, and receptions are held in the Garden Balinese Cabana that overlooks Kailua Bay. It’s an atmosphere that feels easy to live in from the time your ceremony starts until the very last dance of the night. You’re surrounded by just your favorite people in a really incredible space, and you can feel that in every moment.
One of the main things I love about Male’ana Gardens is that it’s an intimate wedding venue that really cares about the couple’s experience. It shows through every part of the planning process – they include a coordinator, catering, and a bartender to ensure that you enjoy your day, not spend it worrying about logistics.
Here’s an overview of the details to know about planning a wedding at Male’ana Gardens:
Location: Kailua, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: Natural beauty, filled with lush greenery and vibrant flowers
Maximum Guest Capacity: Up to 20, depending on the location and season
Guest Accommodations: Not available on-site, but there are hotels close by as the venue is located near Honolulu
Cafe Julia
Cafe Julia is the right fit for a wedding that feels classic, romantic, and elevated, all at the same time. It’s the kind of venue that feels versatile enough to hold every moment of your day without feeling rushed or cramped, but intimate enough that you get to enjoy being with your people.
Right in downtown Honolulu, this intimate wedding venue has sharp, historic architecture that makes for great editorial portraits and an open-air courtyard for your reception that makes photos feel nostalgic and rooted in honesty. One thing that really stands out about this one is the ease of movement between spaces. Any time I capture a wedding here, I notice that every single step of your wedding day is held somewhere with intention, and each different space allows the energy of the day to change without anything ever feeling disconnected.
Cafe Julia is another Oahu wedding venue that makes couples feel cared for throughout wedding planning, with packages that make your job feel easy and never too overwhelming.
Location: Downtown Honolulu, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: Historic, luxurious, and architectural
Maximum Guest Capacity: 180
Guest Accommodations: Not available on-site, but the venue is about 15 minutes from Waikiki

La Pietra
La Pietra is an Oahu wedding venue that’s secluded, but still conveniently located, and has the architecture and old-world charm of an Italian Villa.
Weddings here feel sophisticated and structured, while still giving you and your guests space to relax and ully experience the day. Weddings can be held on a great lawn or a courtyard (with some of the most amazing architecture for photos), and movement between spaces flows really well.
It’s another intimate wedding venue that makes you feel like you’re the only people around for miles, so there’s open space just for you and your people to exist as you are.
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: A 1920s Tuscan-style villa
Maximum Guest Capacity: Contact the venue directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information
Guest Accommodations: No, but there are plenty of stays located nearby
Kualoa Ranch
Kualoa Ranch is a nature reserve on Oahu that lets you host weddings, and they’re days that somehow feel intimate no matter if you have your closest 10 or 150 people there.
Kualoa Ranch works great for micro-weddings that feel elevated and nostalgic all at the same time. The Ko’olau Mountains and the coastline provide a dramatic backdrop for your ceremony and reception, and as a Hawaii wedding photographer, outdoor weddings like this where you’re wrapped in natural beauty will always be some of my favorite days.
One of my favorite parts of Kualoa Ranch is that there are so many opportunities for photos – both editorial, gently guided ones and documentary, fully candid ones. It’s one of those venues that does all the heavy lifting for you, so that no matter what moment it’s holding – your first kiss, you singing your favorite song on the dance floor, your spouse wiping a tear during toasts – it’s beautiful.
Location: Kaneohe, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: Oceanfront views, mountains, beach access, and a private deck
Maximum Guest Capacity: Up to 200 guests
Guest Accommodations: Not available on the premises, but you have options nearby

Turtle Bay at The Ritz-Carlton
There’s something special about intimate weddings with an uninterrupted coastline, and that’s exactly the atmosphere that Turtle Bay brings. Feeling like this whole little piece of the world is just for you and some of your favorite people in the whole world is a feeling that can’t be beat, and I see how much my couples love it all the time.
Couples who are getting married at Turtle Bay always just feel at ease. From the time you wake up on-site, never once having to worry about any friction caused by transportation or logistics, and that gives everyone more space to enjoy the weekend. Laughing with your best friends while you’re getting married, having a first look with just you, your love, and the coast, and then finishing the night laughing with your favorite people with a glass of champagne in your hand.
That’s the kind of energy that makes my couples ease in so that their galleries feel full of nostalgia. The best photographs often begin when people stop thinking about being photographed, and it happens every single time I’m at Turtle Bay.
Location: Kahuku, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: A grand resort right on the coast
Maximum Guest Capacity: Up to 2,000 guests
Guest Accommodations: On-site accommodations for the couple and guests
Four Seasons Ko’Olina
Four Seasons Ko’Olina is a resort wedding venue that’s truly great for any wedding. You can shape this Oahu wedding venue into any size of wedding, any style of wedding, and any time of wedding, and it’ll be elevated and feel easy to be present in. I really love that even though it’s a large resort, you can create a genuinely intimate experience within it.
Intimate resort weddings have a sense of understated luxury. Being able to stay right on-site with all of your favorite people brings a weekend full of memories to be made and lets your guests settle in easily, which brings tons of real, honest moments when it comes to your wedding.
There are so many spaces at Four Seasons Ko’Olina for your wedding, for portraits, and for the events of the weekend. A welcome party can take place in the courtyard or around a fire pit, your ceremony can be oceanfront, and your reception can be outdoors where you watch the sunset on the water or in a grand ballroom.
Location: Ko’Olina, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: A luxury resort with many spaces available
Maximum Guest Capacity: Depending on the location, you can hold up to 1,500 guests here
Guest Accommodations: On-site accommodations for the couple and all of their friends and family

Loulu Palm
Small, beach wedding ceremonies thrive at a place like Loulu Palm. When you’re in a place that’s surrounded by the best of Hawaii (mountains, greenery, and the ocean), it automatically feels special.
This is a wedding venue that feels rich with history, while still letting you make your own mark on it. It has its own character, personality, and charm, while letting new memories between you and your closest people unfold.
Loulu Palm is one of those places that feels like it’s all for you to host you, your friends, and your family in a small, personal wedding that feels just as good as it looks.
Location: Haleiwa, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: Beachside garden
Maximum Guest Capacity: Up to 150 guests
Guest Accommodations: No, but there are accommodations conveniently located

Lanikūhonua Cultural Institute
If you want a meaningful day that feels deeply connected to Hawaii, you’ll love Lanikūhonua. This intimate wedding venue is a cultural institute that’s filled with Hawaiian culture and incredible views of the coast, where you’re surrounded by the lush landscape and vibrance of the island.
The oceanfront cove is a spot that makes ceremonies feel peaceful, and when you have a wedding with fewer guests in a fully outdoor space with no one else around like this, it shapes a truly romantic, intimate atmosphere.
Days spent documenting intimate weddings here are some of my favorites, because I see how meaningful and connected people feel both to each other and the space around them.
Location: Kapolei, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: Oceanfront cove
Maximum Guest Capacity: Over 300 guests, but check directly with the venue for the most accurate information
Guest Accommodations: Not on-site, but there are hotels just minutes away
The Royal Hawaiian
The Royal Hawaiian is a wedding venue I love so much that I have a whole guide on it. There are so many reasons that it’s one of my favorite Oahu wedding venues, but one of the things I love most is how well it holds intimate weddings.
It has a ton of character with its pink exterior and full gardens, but still leaves enough room for your day and its own feeling to take up space. Intimate weddings here have the kind of energy that leaves the last guests of the night chatting on the lawn under string lights, well after the sun went down and most guests went back up to their rooms.
It’s another resort wedding venue that makes wedding planning somehow feel easy, then also makes it easy to stay present in your day. Weddings feel relaxed, wedding weekends work well, and people automatically settle when they set foot in the venue.
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
Venue Appearance: A pink architectural resort
Maximum Guest Capacity: Up to 500 guests
Guest Accommodations: Yes, your friends and family can stay on-site with you

How to Choose an Oahu Wedding Venue for Your Intimate Wedding
For intimate weddings, I always urge my couples to focus on their main priorities for the day first when choosing an Oahu wedding venue. Picking one that protects space for you to stay present and create an intentional experience for you and your guests is important, both for how your day feels and to ensure that you get a gallery that’s layered, nostalgic, and personal.
When you’re reading through these intimate wedding venues, come back to these questions:
- How do we want our day to feel?
- Is it important to us to have accommodations for us and our guests on-site?
- How will our day flow here?
- Will this venue give us the experience we’ve been dreaming of?
